Google Review: Cassandra on Maldives Grief Trip
After experiencing my biggest nightmare, the unexpected death of my mom, my whole world split apart. I lost my safe place, my emergency contact, the person who knew me to my core.. I lost the person I can't live without.
I also feel like a piece of me died with my mom, and ever since her death, I've been just surviving, moving through life, feeling so lost, empty, and invisible.
Going on the grief trip gave me a space where I could feel alive and experience a beautiful life that my mom should have been able to have. I really valued how well thought and intentional the trip was. There was an itinerary of all the excursions and meals in advance to have an idea of what to expect. When you experience unexpected loss, it often comes with anxiety of the unknown and wanting to have control, so having the itinerary was really helpful for me. The days are filled with multiple activities, workshops, and excursions which was really nice for me because I'm someone that likes to have their time filled and get out as much of the experience as I can. I like to keep busy to not dwell on the pain of grief as much but still feel my feelings fully during the guided grief workshops lead by Rachel and Blair. On the other hand, the workshops excursions and all the activities are optional so if you need a moment for yourself, that's okay and celebrated too. Some of the girls on my trip didn't do all the excursions but I was still able to get to know them and spend quality time with them.
I also loved that Rachel has been to all the locations before the trips. It can be really scary in an unknown place as a group of women but I felt a strong layer of safety and protection knowing that Rachel knew the area pretty well 🤍
Going on the grief trip was one of the best things I did for myself during my grieving process. It allowed me to meet women from all over the globe who like me, experience life altering loss but choose everyday to get up and live for their loved ones. If I could go on every trip I would💖
The trip made me feel less alone, seen, and alive.
I cherished all the memories, laughs, cries, and tributes to our loved ones with everyone on my trip.
If you experienced loosing someone you can't live without, if you feel lost, like you're trying to wake up from a nightmare that you call life, going on a grief trip will bring you a sense of community, hope, and many beautiful moments of peace.
