Finding My Grief Soul Sisters on Grief Trips
I found her. The woman who is strong not only in her resilience but in her vulnerability. The woman who makes space for her own grief and for others'. The woman who challenges herself to sit with big emotions, who looks into another person's eyes and sees both the pain of the past and the hope of the future.
On a grief trip with women from all around the world, I found these soul sisters. And I found her in myself too.
What surprised me most was how effortlessly and quickly these connections formed. I knew this journey was what I needed, but I didn't realize how natural it would feel to be surrounded by people who truly understand. There was a profound relief in not having to explain my pain or justify my feelings. We simply held space for each other, sometimes moving between laughter and tears in the very same moment.
We shared our loved ones with the world, honoring their presence even though they are gone. We finished each other's sentences, or needed no words at all, because the understanding ran that deep. And the signs from our loved ones? They were everywhere: gentle reminders that we were not alone.
I don't know how I lucked out and found this in seven women from different corners of the globe on our Portugal Grief Trip, but I know we were meant to find each other. This unexpected ease of connection, this shared vulnerability and strength, has changed me. Thank you for being such a huge part of my story from here on.
